KUNGI CATHOLIC SCHOOL POPULATION ON THE RISE

The enrolment in Catholic School Kungi has risen to over 250 children this year. Last year, like in previous years the enrolment in the school was tottering between 150 and 200 children. The headteacher, Mr Sebastian Ntanya has explained that many children have transferred from the Presbyterian and Government Schools in Kungi to the Catholic School. Some parents explained that they were impressed with the performance at Public and External Exams by the pupils of Kungi Catholic School. Their performance always places them way above the other schools. So they are convinced that is a better school than the others.

Kungi Catholic Church and Catholic School have been beneficiaries of a friendship link with St Cuthberts Parish in the Diocese of Hexam and New Castle, England. It is thanks to this friendship link and the link with St Antonius Parish Eschoffen, Limburg, Germany, that many of the orphans and underprivileged children of Kungi area and Binju-Nkambe Parish in general are able to go to school.

The school buildings in Kungi are crying to be repaired. The playground has never been flat, but the kinds have learnt to play on their field which is quite slanting. What is even more interesting, the children in the school are very happy to be in school.
