BINJU-NKAMBE DEANERY PASTORAL COUNCIL
Last Saturday 10 June the Binju-Nkambe Pastoral Council met at Ako Presbytery. In the absence of the Chairperson of the Deanery Council, Father Robert Tanto, the Dean chaired the meeting. Discussions centred mainly on the forthcoming celebration of Patoral Week at Deanery and Parish Levels. At both levels there shall be election of people into various pastoral functions in compliance with the diocesan request to elect new parish pastoral councils this year. Father Francis Ndey, Rector of Misaje Quasi Parish took the minutes.
While it was settled that each parish in the deanery celebrates pastoral week at parish level when it best suits them, the dates for the celebration at deanery level were fixed for from Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 July at Ako.
The priests present at the council meeting agreed that the ordinary meeting of priests of the deanery should begin with recollection at Binju Presbytery on Monday 26 June and end with lunch on Tuesday 27 June.
Other events in the deanery included the closing of the academic year for our primary schools. Pupils in Class Seven wrote the First School Leaving Examinations on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 June 2006. Many of them will be seeking admission into Post Primary Institutions. As usual, a good number will join the crowds that continue to roam the streets because their parents cannot afford the money to send them to secondary schools.
